Adventure guide studies at Keilir take only eight months to complete and revolve around the aspect of tourism that is physically demanding and adventurous, such as rafting, sea kayaking, ice climbing and mountaineering to name a few. Ragnar Thor Thrastarson is the new Head of Adventure Studies at Keilir Academy. He's a recipient of Adventure Sport Diploma from Thompson Rivers University and MBA from Reykjavik University.

Thompson Rivers University in Canada - in cooperation with Keilir Health Academy - offers an eight-month university program for Adventure Guides. The program is an introduction to adventure tourism and ideal for entry-level adventure students. Application deadline is June 15th 2021.

Adventure Guide Studies During a Volcanic Eruption

A course has been added to the Adventure Guide curriculum that will provide students with instructions and practical knowledge on guiding travelers through an eruption site. The next class of Adventure Guide Studies will start in August of 2021 and is open for applications.

Successful meeting with Thompson Rivers University

We had the pleasure to welcome Dean Dr. Douglas Booth from Thompson Rivers University in a formal visit to Keilir in November. Dr. Booth is the Dean for the Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism at TRU which has partnered and accredited our adventure guide studies program since 2013.
