Delegation from Keilir at Perth College in Scotland

Nine managers from Keilir visited Perth College UHI in Scotland as part of a fact-finding mission to strengthen education provision and develop possibilities for future cooperation.

Hjálmar Árnason, Managing Director and his eight colleagues came to Perth College UHI on 8 and 9 November to learn about the college's work across its curriculum areas and see good practice. According to Hjálmar both educational establishments have similar philosophies and the delegation from Keilir was impressed by the professionalism and sense of humour of those they met from Perth College UHI. "We have been deeply touched by the hospitality shown to us and look forward to future collaborations? said Hjálmar.

The two colleges plan cooperation in different fields, including education for aircraft technicans and in engineering technology, as well as participate in both student and faculty exchange. In addition they will seek to create joint educational programmes and cooperate in the development of educational practices including flipped classroom pedagogy and distance education.

During the visit, Keilir met with Dr Thomas Moore, Principal and Chief Executive, Margaret Munckton, Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Planning, Senior Management and representatives from Air Service Training, Aircraft Engineering, Finance, Student Services, Business, Management and Computing and Health, Education and Social Sciences.

Assistant Principal Margaret Munckton said: ?We were very honoured to be asked to share how we place our students at the heart of all we do, and we were only too happy to pass on our skills and knowledge. There are many ways in which we hope to work together with Keilir to further enhance our students' experience.?

Perth College UHI has 8.400 students in thirteen places in Scotland. The college operates one of the oldest aircraft technician education programmes in Europe.
