When does the next course start?

Applications for August 2022 are now open!

Due to the structure of the program, the program starts mid August every year and ends mid May. To inquire about schedules, or more information, please contact us

How much time for the theoretical part?

In total four courses of twelve in the program are theoretical. Additionally two courses are partially theoretical. Theoretical courses are in many cases a combination of on-site and distance (online) learning.

Can I attend the program alongside work?

The Adventure Guide Certificate is full time studies and therefore we do not recommend that students work full time alongside the program. However some students work part time alongside the program, but that is pending on workload, employers flexability and the student's organizational skills.

Do I need to have any prior outdoor experience?

There is no need for extensive experience. The program touches on all basic components of outdoor travel and adventure. Prior experience will help and can be beneficial for your study and training. Good physical fitness and an overall learning mindset is what is required.

What equipment do I need to possess for the practical courses?

Here you can find a list of the equipment required for practical courses. It is important that students come ready as the program starts. If any questions arise, please contact us.

Do I have to have a matriculation exam?

The same requirements apply for the Adventure Guide Certificate program as in Canadian universities. According to application requriements from TRU, students need to be at least 19 years of age and have completed at least half of the credits leading to matriculation examination in upper secondary education.

Keilir will look at all applications individually and evaluate prospective students based on their education, prior experience and applicant interview.

Who are the instructors?

We are incredibly proud of our international blend of qualified instructors. The team consists of local and international professionals within the tourism sector. All courses are led by certified instructors/teacher in their field of experteese.
