The most exciting learning environment for pilot training in the World

Iceland Aviation Academy (IAA) is based on the Reykjanes Peninsula with flight training operations both at the Keflavik International Airport and Reykjavik Domestic Airport. This location provides pilot students with access to the most unique, challenging and memorable learning environment possible.

Recently six of our Diamond aircraft had the  oportunity to do a formation flight over the Geldingadalir volcanic eruption, taking place only 20km from the school.

The flight took place to introduce a new brand design for Iceland Aviation Academy, which was established in 2020 after the merger of Keilir Aviation Academy and the Icelandic Flight School. With a fleet of close to twenty training aricraft and almost 300 professional pilot students, the Iceland Aviation Academy is one of the larger flight schools in the Nordic countries.

According to Alexandra Tomasdottir, Head of Marketing, the formation flight was also done to commemorate the first graduation ceremony of the new Aviation Academy taking place on 11 June 2021. At the event a total of 32 students graduated as commercial pilots, bringing the number of total of graduates from the former two largest flight schools in Iceland to almost 1300.

With a large fleet of state-of-the-art glass cockpit Diamond aircraft, first class facilities and experienced educators and instructors from the aviation industry, Iceland Aviation Academy offers a great pathway towards a professional career in aviation. When you add open skies and access to airports around the island, as well as the breathtaking scenery in Iceland including glaciers, islands, mountains, fjords and the occasional volcanic eruption, you have the foundation for one of the best and most thrilling pilot education experiences in the world.
